Surbiton flats are mostly conversions, and that changes the clean

Walk out of that Grade II listed station, put up in 1937 by the Southern Railway architects’ department under J R Scott, and within five minutes you are among big Victorian and Edwardian villas that were carved into flats decades ago. Those conversions are where most of our KT6 work sits. They come with original sash windows, deep skirting, a shared entrance hall that the lease may or may not make your problem, and a kitchen squeezed into what used to be a back bedroom.

Two practical consequences. First, the shared hall: tell us whether your tenancy covers it, because inventory clerks photograph it either way and we would rather clean it than have it come back at you. Second, the sash boxes and the beading, which collect years of grit that a normal vacuum will not shift and which show up badly in check-out photographs taken with a flash.

Parking is the other Surbiton problem. Zone S covers around twenty nine streets including Adelaide Road, Brighton Road, Maple Road, Portsmouth Road and Surbiton Hill Road, so a van cannot simply sit outside for six hours. Sort a visitor permit if your landlord holds them, or tell us and we will pay and display and pass the cost through at what it actually cost. Down on the Portsmouth Road end, the old Seething Wells filter beds mark the boundary of the residential streets, and past that point parking gets easier.

Regular cleaning

A lot of Surbiton is commuters on the fast Waterloo trains, so most regular visits happen while nobody is home. Weekly is £22 per cleaner per hour, explained on the regular cleaning page.

Surbiton questions we get asked

Can you park on Maple Road?

Only with a permit or a paid session during controlled hours. Most of our Surbiton customers borrow a visitor permit from the landlord, which works out cheaper than the meter for a six hour job.

Do you clean the communal stairs?

If the tenancy makes them yours, yes, and it is included. If they belong to the freeholder we leave them and note it, so nobody charges you for cleaning somebody else’s hallway.

How far do you go from Surbiton?

Everywhere around it. Tolworth and Berrylands are both a few minutes away and priced identically, and we work the whole Kingston side from the town centre outwards.
